Music is a large part of my life: I love to listen to it, watch it live, play music, and occasionally sing, but only in a soundproof room to keep others' eardrums intact. My musical tastes are largely influenced by learning to play the guitar, which I chose to pursue in order to woo women, and subsequently introduced me to a wide variety of styles that I probably never would have had an interest in. In my mp3 player, you'll find music that includes classic rock, rock, jazz, blues, folk, funk, punk, classical, flamenco, and bluegrass. Pretty much everything except modern-pop country music makes my stomach turn. However, I can watch a Shania Twain music video from start to finish but with the sound turned off. Living in the Bay Area has afforded me almost infinite opportunities to enjoy music; every night of the week, you can find a live act somewhere playing any style imaginable. It's amazing. And the venues are incredible with most being very intimate and some with legendary status such as the Fillmore, the Warfield, etc. |
