Olympic Flame 2.14.2002

After much scandal, years of road construction, and heightened security due to 9/11, the 2002 Winter Olympics finally got underway in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was an incredible opportunity to see the Olympic Games in your own backyard. My sister flew home from Boston and our family friends, Chris and Paolein I, drove in from Irvine, CA to join in the festivities. My dad and Uncle Chris went to the Opening Ceremonies, which I heard was amazing. Then my mom and Paolein got to go see a figure skating event. My sister and I saw the men's downhill and an awards ceremony. We all went to see the men's 4x10K cross country relay. We even saw some stars just hanging out at the Red Rock Brewery: Katarina Witt (she is such a babe), and the highlight of the whole trip, Phil Liggett: the voice of cycling. He was commentating on the cross country skiing and was nice enough to take some pictures with us. |
